Brentwood Cathedral Music Department, Diocesan Centenary Concert

Sat 28 October 2017 at 00:00

We are recruiting a choir to perform at the Diocesan Centenary concert in the Cathedral in October. This is an ideal opportunity for Parish choirs and others to join together with the Cathedral Choir to perform with a professional orchestra at this prestigious event.

Programme
The finalised programme is
Vivaldi – Double Trumpet Concerto
Vivaldi - Gloria
Vaughan Williams – Serenade to Music (solo quartet and chorus)
Elgar – Sospiri
Schubert – Mass in G (full orchestra version)

Rehearsals
There will be three rehearsals at the Cathedral in addition to one on the afternoon of the concert
Wed 20 Sept
Mon 9 Oct
Wed 25 Oct (all at 7.30pm)

We would like as many of the participating choirs and singers to attend all three of these rehearsals. The final one is obligatory plus at least one of the other two.

Participating choirs
In addition to the Cathedral Choir and choirs from the parishes we will be joined by Brentwood Choral Society. They will be rehearsing the music at their regular Monday evening rehearsals at Brentwood School (7.30pm to 9.30pm) and other singers who want to rehearse the music for the concert are very welcome to join these rehearsals. We also hope that some of the Parish choirs will also be able to rehearse the music.

Want to participate?
Please can you let the Music Department at the Cathedral know if you are interested in participating. It would be extremely helpful to know by early September the possible numbers, mix of voices and ability to attend the rehearsals. Andrew Wright, Director of Music music@dioceseofbrentwood.org
